Health Tourism: Patients From Gambia Receive Treatment in Turkey
Health tourism refers to people traveling to another country to receive healthcare services. Thanks to advanced healthcare services and technology, various countries around the world are preferred, and in recent years, Turkey has achieved great success in healthcare and has become a competitor to developed countries.
Turkey, with its climate, sea, beaches, thermal resources, thalassotherapy opportunities (using seawater as a treatment), forests, plateaus, and ease of transportation, has become one of the ideal destinations for medical and alternative health tourism. Turkey has become a treatment hub for thousands of patients from all over the world. Özlem Özkulak, Co-Founder of Find Doctor in Turkey and Representative of the Turkey Health Tourism Association, stated that they have carried out significant projects as health tourism ambassadors.
They Came to Turkey for a General Check-Up
Offering hundreds of international patients the opportunity to receive healthcare in Turkey, Özlem Özkulak announced that Gambian Minister of Environment and Climate Change Rohey John Manjang and Fatou Jallow Senghore, the Trade Ambassador and Representative of the International Youth Entrepreneurs Federation (UGIF) in Gambia, chose Turkey, Turkish doctors, and hospitals for their treatment. It was stated that Rohey John Manjang and Fatou Jallow Senghore came to Turkey for a general check-up. At a private hospital in Bayrampaşa, Istanbul, Fatou Jallow Senghore underwent examinations and tests for eye treatment, while an appointment was arranged at the same hospital for some treatments for Rohey John Manjang.
“We Want a Turkish Hospital”
Both Rohey John Manjang and Fatou Jallow Senghore expressed their satisfaction with the healthcare services they received. Visiting Turkey for the first time, Minister Rohey John Manjang said she was very pleased with the services and wished to have a hospital of the same quality in her country. Fatou Jallow Senghore noted that she decided to complete her recommended eye treatment in Turkey and that they would return for their treatment plans.
“We Have Signed Many Projects for Health Tourism”
Özlem Özkulak, Co-Founder of Find Doctor in Turkey and Representative of the Turkey Health Tourism Association, stated that they will continue to improve Turkey’s health tourism record:
“I am the co-founder of Find Doctor in Turkey, and we have been active for six years. We launched a platform that promotes our doctors and hospitals worldwide. We have carried out many projects in the field of health tourism. We organized Turkey’s first obesity fair. I am also a representative of the Turkey Health Tourism Association. Through the association’s activities, we have promoted our country in many countries in the field of health tourism and continue to do so. We explain our country’s healthcare capacity to international health officials responsible for private and public sectors, either by inviting them to our country or by visiting them in their own countries. Especially in cities like İzmir and Istanbul, we have worked hard to announce that our hospitals are internationally competent in health tourism, and we continue to work on this.”
